A NOTE ON THE INDEX · OCTOBER 2026

A shared history.
An open conversation.

Small projects deserve a place where their progress, players, and ideas can stay together.

Follow the game through its posts

Playtrace brings together games shared on r/aigamedev. A project’s original showcase and later updates sit on one timeline, with a direct link to every source.

We’re collecting the available history from the community’s creation in December 2022. The collection shows its progress as older records arrive. Newest updates appear first; choose Most updates to find projects with a longer development story. The first post starts the timeline, and each later post counts as an update.

Useful feedback, open to everyone

Read the conversation or contribute without signing in. Start with quick multi-select questions, then add an optional note. Tell a maker what you enjoyed, where you got stuck, or what you’d like to try. Your choices, display name, note, and optional ideal price are public.

“Your ideal price” is a suggestion for the maker, with no purchase commitment. Their pricing is always their choice. A Steam store price, when available, is shown separately in USD.

A random edit key stays in your browser so you can update or remove your contribution. Clearing browser data removes that editing access. Older account-based price responses stay private.

A game of recognition

Name five games from their screenshots, chosen randomly from 20 curated projects with available builds. Some are demos or works in progress. The quiz uses real game names, checked against their project pages; Reddit post headlines are not quiz answers.

Finishing saves your choices and contributes to recognition counts. Replays count as new rounds, and skipped or unavailable images do not count as wrong guesses. These are guesses, not ratings or verified-player counts. You can remove this browser’s quiz answers from the game’s privacy controls. Quiz identifiers are kept separate from public feedback.

Sources, with their limits visible

The Arctic Shift archive helps preserve the community’s history. Only posts tagged Demo | Project | Workflow are included. News, discussion, promotion, tools, and other flairs are excluded, including from historical imports. Records can be delayed or incomplete. Projects are grouped only when the source author and project link support the match. Source-described entries await editorial review.

Development stages reflect the maker’s posts. A Steam badge means the linked app was found in the store; a released badge requires Steam to list it as released. It does not verify the maker’s identity. Prices are for the US store, can change, and may differ in your region.

Keep the picture accurate

Previews belong to their creators. Original videos and GIFs stay linked to their source, with playback where the host supports it. Admins can select a clearer image or store an authorized replacement when a clip opens on a black frame.

Use Request a change at the top of a project to flag its image, link, details, or a removal. Requests go privately to the admin inbox. For wider site issues, send a correction.
